2019 Planting Season

2019 Planting Season

Between the months of November to February this year, I tried really hard not to mention that we don't have a shower at home because I inevitably get strange, confused looks and then have to explain. I'm even reluctant to publicly write about it. Do note, we are building an indoor bath house. Not to worry! It just takes time. I do want to keep the outdoor one though and even make a more substantial outdoor bath house, because nature, being outside + self care... is magic.

I wrote this at the beginning of March, a couple days before spring equinox. The sun was out and the snow melted, at least in our little micro climate. Even with a little alpine breeze coming off the mountain peaks and no foliage quite yet, for me, this meant it's warm enough to shower outside.

I brewed a hot tea, turned on the propane tank and took a lovely hot shower in my cedar scented shower shelter, outside with the sun shining and the birds singing. Instead of heading straight back inside, the sun called me. I walked down to the garden and sunk my feet in the warm topsoil while letting my hair dry in the air and gazing into the mountains. Spending time in nature; an essential source of feeling wholesome.

Now we begin to sprout tomato seeds, prep the soil and build a greenhouse. Indeed it's warm enough to start planting. Are you planting a garden this year? What are your favourite things to grow? Here is our planting list!
